job summary

The interior designer will be an integral team member providing space planning, interior design, conceptual 3-D drawings, and production drawings as well as support to other designers.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Has full responsibility for assisting all aspects of multiple small, mid-sized, and large projects including space planning, finish selection/specification, conceptual 3-D drawings, design development drawings, construction drawings, shop drawing review
  • Determines clients’ preferences regarding materials, styles, colors, and other variables.
  • Selection and specification of finishes appropriate for commercial work and according to the needs of the client
  • Assists clients in defining their priorities and vision by preparing preliminary sketches of options
  • Adheres to budgets and timelines
  • Interacts with project teams and collaborates with clients, architects, engineers, and other industry professionals
  • Prepares and presents designs and finishes
  • Production drawings skills
  • Performs quality check for completeness of drawings
  • May provide technical guidance to less experience staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated, self starter
  • Team oriented & works well with others
  • In depth knowledge of design principles
  • Extremely proficient with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit and 3-D software Sketch up and/or Lumion
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate client ideas into visual and/or tangible references such as drawings or models
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards
  • Creative and visualization skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Able to travel and visit job sites if needed

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Interior Design program required
  • NCIDQ certification preferred
  • Five to Ten years of relevant experience in Corporate and/or Medical office design preferred
  • Excellent technical drawing skills – able to produce full construction drawing set

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
